Atlanta Flat Roofs
As the premier choice for Atlanta roofing services you have different options to choose from. One of these if the flat roof system. But even with this option there are three different styles: Build up Roofing (BUR), Single-Ply, and Modified Bitumen. We want you to have a basic understanding of each type before you decide to have yours installed.
Built Up Roofing
The first one is the Built Up Roofing (BUR). It is a time test and sturdy choice for any building. Layers of reinforced fiberglass are embedded into place with a kettle and hot asphalt. These fiberglass layers are than applied in a staggered pattern, one built on top of the other. The a fiberglass mat, that contains a reflective mineral surfaced granules, is applied to the top layer of the roof.
This is what protects the roof from the different elements it may encounter. The multiple layers are what give this system the great resistance to water and the weather. Material warranties are available for a span of 20 years.
The next type of Atlanta flat roof system that we offer is the Modified Bitumen. This is considered to be a premium alternative to the BUR and also applied using hot asphalt. Heavy duty, premium Modified Bitumen, reinforced with polyester/fiberglass roofing are put into place. From that, the system is built up by additional piles. A reflective mineral surfaced cap sheet is applied to add to the waterproofing. Modified Bitumen is known for the resistance to tears and the elements. Material warranties are also available for 20 years.
The last option for a flat roof is the Single-Ply. It’s extremely lightweight and the bright white color makes it ideal for energy sustainability. The Single-Ply roof is Energy Star compliant. This type of roofing is either made from Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or Thermoplastic Olefin (TOP). The Thermoplastic Olefin is the fastest growing in the roofing market for flat roofs.
Single-Ply is typically applied over an insulation covered board. It can be installed using only screws and plates, adhesive, or asphalt. The laps are then welded together creating a seam-free roof. Material warranties are available for 20 years, as well. For any and all of your Atlanta flat roof system needs you can count on Inspired Roofing.
